Memories & Heroes

Posted by Paige Bluhdorn

Where were you when JFK was shot? Some of you were in diapers or not yet born, like me, but there are many who remember when the school day was cut short. That their parents shock became their own and time stood still. Could such a moment exist in our lifetime or multiple moments where the magnitude outweighs rational thought? Where we’re you when the Twin Towers were hit along with the Pentagon? When United flight 93, where passengers heroically risked their own lives, crashed in a field.

The anniversary of 9/11 is now weeks away and it is the rebuilding that captures our attention here at Ground Zero. For the next generation who will not remember where they were on 9/11 because they were not old enough, we must tell them where we were and how we will never forget both the heroes who put the needs of others first, who died in the line of duty and the everyday man or woman who, during a heroic act of selflessness has paid with their lives.

In Memoriam.
